In 2007 the International Olympic Committee selected Sochi, Russia, to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.  At the time, Sochi was a small seaside resort that would require seven years and about $51 billion in order to transform Sochi into the stage for the Winter Olympics today[1]

Preparations for the Olympics in Sochi included athletic facilities, hotels and housing, retail outlets, and upgrading the transport system—including new roads, junctions and railway lines.The largest and most complex infrastructure facility built specially for the Games is the combined road and railway, Adler — Alpika Service.  The trains travel along single and double track sections at speeds up to 100 mph (160 km/h). The capacity is up to 8,500 passengers per hour on the railway and up to 11,500 passengers per hour on the road. The Adler — Krasnaya Polyana railway line can handle 6 pairs of trains per hour.[2]

To complement its brand new Rail System, Russia also invested in a means to wash their trains in a safe, efficient, and environmentally-friendly way—and this is where Westmatic comes in!  Sochi purchased a state-of-the-art, fully-equipped, Westmatic Twin Line Train Wash System. 

Installation of the Twin Line Train Wash began in Fall of 2013 in Sochi in order to be ready to serve during the Olympic Games. 

The Westmatic Twin Line in Sochi is fully equipped with all the accessories and options that we have to offer; it has, among other things, a pre-rinse arch at the entrance, dryers at the exit, water purification and water recycling.

The Sochi train wash bay is thought to be the most environmentally friendly train wash bay in Russia as it has two water purification systems, known as Renaren, and three water recycling systems.  Westmatic's water recycling process enables water reclamation of up to 85%.  Water that is not recycled passes through Renaren, where water reaches a purification level of 99% through Westmatic's world-patented water purification technology.  Once the waste water has completed the water recycling and water purification process, it can then be discharge to the sewer safely.

Westmatic is honored to have been selected to foster the development of Sochi, the stage for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
